Fantastic Beasts 3: someone related to Luna Lovegood?

While waiting for the release of the third of the Fantastic Beasts movie series, fans start developing their own theories regarding characters of the sage. According to one of the theories shared, one of the characters appeared in the last sequel is related to Luna Lovegood, one of the most beloved characters in Harry Potter.

Albus Dumbledore, Gellert Grindelwald, Minerva McGonagall, Nagini...numerous characters are linking up the Harry Potter and the Fantastic Beasts sagas. Will there be more? Although Warner Bros postponed the release date of the Fantastic Beasts 3 movie, the fans are not letting their passion cool off. They are keeping themselves busy by coming up with different theories, a lot of which are on the story of Newt Scamander’s adventure will go. Well, it’s up to you whether to believe these theories, note that J.K. Rowling has not revealed all the connections with the Harry Potter saga.

Bunty, Luna’s grand-mother?

On Reddit, Miss_Readsalot brought up a theory that Bunty might be the grandmother of Luna Lovegood, one of the most well-known characters from the Harry Potter saga.

JK Rowling revealed a few years ago that Luna Lovegood marries Newt Scamander's grandson Rolf. And I was thinking about how they met. Having seen Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, I now have a headcanon that Bunty is Luna's grandmother which makes the Lovegoods and Scamanders family friends

Fantastic Beasts The Crimes of Grindelwald Bunty

For those who did not watch The Crimes of Grindelwald recently, Bunty was Newt’s assistant, taking care of the various magical creatures of the latter. When Harry met Luna the first time in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in 1995, it was already 68 years after The Crimes of Grindelwald. Sweet, slightly lunatic, Luna joined Dumbledore’s Army and became friends with Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny and Neville.

According to this theory, Bunty and Newt stayed friends for a long time that their children (whoever they are) met and became friends also. The Lovegoods and the Scamanders must have remained in close relationship afterwards, and this is how Luna met Rolf, her future husband. In 2015, J.K. Rowling indeed revealed that, after the Battles of Hogwarts, Luna married Newt Scamander’s grandson, who is a magizoologist himself too.

Astonished, yes - but this theory could have been totally legit. In The Crimes of Grindelwald, Bunty appeared to be a sweet and charming person, who was also clumsy with her head in the clouds. It reminds us of Luna Lovegood doesn’t it?
